This is not a nice subject this time of year.Widows and Widowers are 'the edge of society',having been to several holiday gatherings this season I have noticed to many of us are being shunned to the edge--as a woman I feel it from that side we are made fun of and suspect of wanting to take the married couples hubby LOL so next party we are not asked, so after a while we are alone sad.
When you lose your partner you are truly alone in today's society.

I know just what you mean, Heidi. I have a friend whose husband doesn't like her to spend too much time with me, fearing she might like the single woman life that I enjoy. I'm lucky to have my children and grandchildren nearby. But they have their own lives and I am alone a great deal. I've learned to embrace solitude and enjoy aloneness. I sometimes miss having a companion. But I don't feel sad anymore.
Oh Beck I am glad you understand
I fully understand you, though I'm not a widow woman but a divorced one, living alone, too. I try to make the most of the pros and minimize the cons... the life would be very gloomy, otherwise...
Merry Christmas to you!
Just hug your memories and love yourself friend
Tess thank you hugs and have a wonderful Christmas
Time only dulls the pain; It doesn't take it away.
I am alone and have been for a long time now by my own choice. I have been romanced, treated like dirt so much I gave up in the end of finding someone else to love me or even just care.
Now it is God help anyone who invades my space. LOL
Happy new year my dear.
This is just horrid to read Heidi. I have several friends who have lost spouses and we always make a special point to include them in the holiday festivities ...we consider them to equally important without being in a couple relationship. HUGS
